5+ Things to know when visiting Jamaica for the first time

Visiting Jamaica was an interesting experience for me because my wife has family in Jamaica. I was raised in the Caribbean, so I had an understanding of the cuisine, fruits, country, and the language. Now, as far as the language in Jamaica the dialect is Patios (Pat-wa), which can be difficult to understand for those unfamiliar with Caribbean accents. There are a few things I would like to share with you if you are interested in visiting Jamaica!

Here are a few things to try and be aware of in Las Vegas

As long as I can remember, I would always see the commercials on TV about Las Vegas and have always wanted to see the city for myself. I love architecture and witnessing someone’s architectural vision come to life. When I was on my way to Las Vegas, I must say, I was very excited. To this day, I remember getting to “paradise” and my jaw dropped. It was so beautiful, and the people were really nice. So, I’ve come up with a list of some things to try and be aware of!

7+ Things to expect when visiting New Orleans during New Years Eve!

New Orleans is one of my favorite cities in the U.S. The city is full of culture and there’s a lot to do in town. My first time visiting New Orleans, my wife and some friends went to spend New Year’s Eve. It was a 4:45 hour drive from the panhandle of Florida. When we got to the city it… was… COLDDDDDDDDD. We were dressed and prepared for chilly weather, but it was colder than we expected. It was so cold outside that my fully charged phone died in 3 minutes. Besides the cold weather, here are 7 things to expect when visiting New Orleans during New Years Eve. Please feel free to share and subscribe!

Ownership: Where do we even start?

In my opinion, one of the topics that is discussed the most among entrepreneurs is ownership. Most entrepreneurs have found their niche and are discovering new ways to gain access to ownership and build wealth. I have learned that wealth is much different from being rich. For most of my life I thought rich and wealthy were the same thing. Well, I was wrong. I remember hearing someone put it this way; “most of the time the wealthy are the ones that are signing the checks of the rich.” Part of building wealth includes creating a money-making engine that doesn’t require hours of your time to operate. After years of that “money making” engine working, you are able to use that money and make even more money by compounding it year after year.

6 Debt Traps to Avoid

Debt is becoming a huge problem not only for the nation but also for young adults. According to The Pew Research Center, Americans owe over $1.3 trillion in student loan debt. That report came out in March of 2019 and I’m sure now that we are in 2021 that debt has increased. Most families rely on the government to help pay for their college degree, but the cost of college degrees are going up and so is the related debt. Student loans aren’t the only debt that’s affecting our generation.

Other debt traps include not understanding how a mortgage loan or credit cards work. These issues affect most communities but are DEVASTATING to the black and brown communities. Most of us have discussions about building wealth and ownership in our communities, but building wealth becomes very complex when you are buried in $300,000 worth of debt. Can we break free from the debt traps devastating our generation? I believe we can if we begin to understand the “true cost” of borrowing.

Writing a book? Here are some tips to help you!

Writing a book can seem very difficult if you aren’t familiar with the process. Now I must admit, there are some tedious steps involved in writing a book, but it’s not anything to pull your hair out over. I remember when I first thought about writing a book. It was in March or April of 2016. I started off by researching what I needed to do. In that research I came across a few articles stating “Writing a book was a waste of time.” I read the articles and it instilled a lot of doubt. From that point I struggled with starting to write my book. I would begin to write and then think that it wasn’t good enough and ended up starting over and over and over again. Eventually, I began to get frustrated and I gave up completely. I didn’t believe in my writing and I wasn’t disciplined enough to keep at it. Have you experienced this before? If so, you are not alone. Well, it is now 2021 and I am happy to report that I am in the editing phase of my novel. Here are some tips that can help you get started and keep going with writing a book.

How can we teach our children about finances? Here are 10 ways!

Finances are just for adults, right? If you said yes, then I respectfully disagree with you. We sometimes say to ourselves “I wish I started learning about finances when I was younger.” So, why is it that our children can’t start learning about finances at a young age? In the times that we are living in now I believe we should, if we haven’t already, share our view of finances with our family in our household. Now, I am not saying that your child should know how much your credit limit is or the balances on your loans. What I am saying is, a child should know the basics of finances like not to go over 30% of credit utilization and staying under 10% is preferred. They should learn about budgeting and investing. They should learn about APR and amortization schedules. You don’t have to show them your financial statements if you are uncomfortable with that because there are plenty of examples on the internet. Our schools do not teach this information, so we have to start finding ways to do it ourselves. Here are 10 ways we can teach our kids and young adults about finances.

12 ways to relax & improve our mental health

Mental health has been a big concern for many people this past year. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many to have high anxiety and fear. The way we would normally approach our day has changed. We now have to be very conscious of where we go, how close we stand to others, and remember not to leave home without a mask. Parents had to adjust to accommodate their kids schooling at home. Some still had to report to their jobs because working remotely wasn’t an option. Many have gone an entire year without seeing family or spending the holidays with them. With stress, frustration, and thoughts of giving up on the rise, I decided to do some research and create a list of ways that we can relax and improve our mental health.
