New to Blogging? Don’t Give Up!

Blogging is a lot of fun and can be very rewarding, but if you’re new to the blogging world and you’ve been watching videos and reading books, you’re probably starting to get exhausted by all of the tasks that you need to get done. I must admit, I don’t have any friends or relatives that blog. I am new to blogging and have learned many of the things I now know through research, reading relevant books, and taking courses. Here are some common things that can make some bloggers give up on blogging shortly after starting.

The beginning stages of your blogging journey can be difficult if you are comparing your progress to someone else’s.When I first started my blog, I started to look at other bloggers and see their progress and the thousands of subscribers they had. I would get so frustrated because I felt like I wasn’t where I should be. Comparing yourself to others can steal your joy! Enjoy the process and remember that this is a journey. There will be ups and downs. The great thing about blogging is that you can correct what you’re doing wrong relatively quickly and grow from the experience. The people that we compare ourselves to, most likely, have been blogging for years. Everyone’s journey is different, although we have blogging as a common theme.

With that being said let’s talk about finances. Blogging can create passive income for you when you learn how to master affiliate marketing and other blog money making strategies. If you’re still struggling with affiliate marketing, I know someone who can help! Click here to access the course I used to gain a better understanding of affiliate marketing. When you see other bloggers post how much money their blog is generating monthly, you can become very discouraged that your blog isn’t producing. I have seen bloggers make $35,000-$290,000 a month just by blogging. I remember getting that exciting feeling a child outside of a candy store gets, but then realized that some of these bloggers have been in the business for a while and have a lot of experience with affiliate programs and other businesses. I had to remind myself to stay true to who I am and trust the process.

Another thing that can make a new blogger give up is not knowing how to handle rejection. Some of us take rejection very personally. When you’re blogging… you WILL be critiqued. It’s a part of the business. Some people will read your work and find no value in it, but others will! When you reach out to other bloggers, some may not work with you simply because you’re new. Some bloggers will only work with someone else if they are getting paid or there is something in it for them. If you run into a blogger who has that mindset, remember that’s not how all bloggers operate. There ARE some bloggers who WILL help you. Always remember, when one door is closed, there’s something better being planned for you. Believe in your abilities and believe in your blog. Don’t lose your determination.

Support is another reason why some bloggers may want to give up on blogging. I’m not referring to just subscribers. I am talking about close friends and family. In the beginning you might be depending on your friends and family to subscribe, and assist you financially or emotionally to get you started on your blogging journey. Sometimes the biggest support of your blog will be the people who learn about you and who feel your post speaks to them. As frustrated as it can be, you cannot depend on family and friends sometimes. Don’t let family and friend’s lack of support frustrate you and make you want to give up. It will not always be that way. When it’s time for you to launch your blog, you will just have to market it on various platforms to achieve the following you desire.

Think of your blog as a plant and it’s up to you to take care of it. Don’t get discouraged and give up. When things get frustrating it’s okay to take a break to regroup mentally, but make sure you don’t use that time to slack off and discontinue your progress. One thing you DON’T want to do is give up on your blog and then get upset that you didn’t succeed. We all have ups and downs with any endeavor, but perseverance and resilience is the key to keep growing and moving forward. I created a list down below to read when ever we feel like giving up on our blogs or whatever we are striving to accomplish, but have gotten frustrated.

  • Rejection does not mean there aren’t any opportunities.
  • Growing your blog/business is not a sprint, it’s a marathon
  • Don’t compare your journey to someone else’s journey
  • You are unique
  • It’s okay to take a break sometimes. Just remember to come back and continue your progress.
  • Don’t forget the reason you started your business/blog
  • Growth is a lifetime journey, don’t get discouraged over a bad month.
  • As life has ups and downs, you will have ups and downs in your business/blog, just remember not to give up on YOU.
  • Don’t be afraid to reach out for help from others. You don’t have to do this alone!
  • Your blog is an investment and needs your hard work and effort in order for it to survive.

I hope this list will give you some encouragement on your journey. Remember, whatever you do, don’t give up! Our blogging journey can be a fun experience. Stressing about not having one million subscribers is not worth it. Remember that WE grow as our BLOG grows. Our blog is a part of us and our journey.
